Service Description
Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement (MSPE)® is a mindfulness-based mental training program for athletes, coaches, and other performers of all ages and ability levels. This program was created based on research in other mindfulness-based programs and is focused on building mindfulness skills essential to consistent, optimal performance. The MSPE program includes six, 90 minute sessions with each focusing on a specific component of mindfulness which will take you from formal practice to becoming a mindful athlete as you perform. Each session includes educational guidance, personal experiences, and mindfulness practices that you can integrate in training, in performance, and in everyday life. We will grow from a seated mindfulness practice, through mindful walking, to a sports specific mindfulness practice that will developed in our last class. You will be able to take these skills and practices into the rest of your life, training, and sport. Mindfulness interventions decrease stress and increase performance, not only in sport, but in other aspects of life. These interventions can increase athletes ability to make decisions, enjoy the activity, improve concentration, and increase an ability to cope with stress, and combat burnout. All of these factors improve on a person's overall well-being, and by doing so increasing their ability to perform to their highest ability.
